Designed
by Thomas Gillmer and built by Joel White at the Brooklin
Boatyard in 1968, the 39' ketch CYGNET is our
most popular charter boat. CYGNET was built
from strip planked wood and has a clipper bow and a very traditional
two cabin, mid ships cockpit design, with a centerboard and
wheel steering. She is available from Northeast Harbor on
Mount Desert Island in Maine. CYGNET measures
39' LOA, 29' LWL, 10' 8" Beam and 4' 9" draft, board up, 9'
draft, board down. She has a Westerbeke diesel 4-107 and carries
84 gallons of fuel.
- Accommodations: CYGNET has two separate
cabins, divided by the self bailing cockpit. The forward
cabin/salon with 6' 3" headroom has three berths, a dining
area with drop leaf table. There is pressurized hot/cold
fresh water system with integrated shower in the forward
head. There is a "Chummy" stove which burns charcoal (120
pounds of charcoal is carried). Aft is the galley with
a SS deep sink with fresh and salt water, a four burner
gimbaled propane stove with oven. Refrigeration is a large
portable ice chest on deck with 75 lbs. capacity, and
a small chest below. Aft is the enclosed head with marine
toilet with macerator/chlorinator, SS basin, cabinet and
cupboard. Aft cabin (on has 4' 2" headroom and two berths,
one each side of the head. CYGNET has a set of SS cooking
utensils, dishes for eight, flatware, charcoal grill,
12 blankets, and 6 standard sized pillows. Three SS tanks
carry 120 gallons of water. Lighting consists of incandescent
and fluorescent lights. Generator and alternator charge
3-12 V batteries (one for engine start, two house batteries).
There are portholes for ventilation and light along sides
of trunk cabin. Drop boards for companionway and screens.
- Sails & Rigging: Dacron main, mizzen, and roller furling
jib and staysail. Aluminum spars with halyard and sheet
winches.
- Ground Tackle: 50 lb. Yachtsman and 18 Danforth hi-tensile
anchor. 200' of 5/16" BBB chain and 250' of ¾" nylon rode.
Electric windlass.
- Safety Equipment: automatic bilge pump, portable hand
pump, fire extinguishers, 36" double life lines with gates.
- Navigational Equipment: GPS, RADAR, Micrologic, VHF,
VDO Sumlog, Depth Finder, 5" Danforth compass in binnacle,
bell, charts and navigation tools (parallel rules, dividers).
- Tender: 9' GRP rowing dinghy with small outboard motor
(tows and rows well).
- Additional Equipment: Fenders, tool kit, boat hook,
Jacob's ladder, ratlines on stbd. Side, fog horn and hand
megaphone.
